Philosophy of Ministry
We believe that we have been called into this community for the purpose of enhancing faith, fellowship, love, and hope. We will offer a secure environment that encourages children to develop their God giftedness in these areas.
We believe that each child is a precious gift from God. This is to say that every child is invaluable in God's sight and must be treated as such. Therefore, Good News Children's Center will strive to help children understand how priceless they are by treating them with love, gentleness and acceptance.
We believe that children need an orderly, organized, yet stimulating environment to explore. Our goal is to offer learning materials, surroundings and activities that create such an environment.
We believe that the family is the most important aspect of the child's life. As such, it is our goal to serve as a resource to the family as the child grows.

Day Care:
|
|
|
Toddlers: We have a toddler room for children 15 months -- 3 years old. We have a group of ten children with 2 teachers. Our toddlers learn to play and interact with their peers as well as spend time learning basic concepts. This is done through playing, singing songs, and reading books. The children also do many art projects. Potty training is another focal point for the toddler room. Once chidlren are fully potty trained and close to 3, they move into the 3 year old room.
3 -- 5 Year Olds: Children learn through hands on learning activities, free play indoors and outdoors, and field trips. Each group also spends time learning and discussing a Bible story each week. The daycare's focus is introducing the concepts to children but not requiring them to master them. Mastery is emphasized in pre-school in which this age group has the opportunity to enroll.

Preschool:

Our educational program is Biblically based. A Bible story is the basis for the week's theme. The daily activities relate to the week's Bible story as well as language development, number concepts, letter recognition, reading readiness, music, art and dramatic play.

Summer Program:
|
|
|
Activities include, circle time/sharing time, hands on activities, special events, field trips, as well as free play inside and out. Learning, discussing and applying Bible stories and Christian character are also an important aspect of the summer program.

|
After School Program:
|
|
|
Good News Children's Center provides an after school program for children in grades K - 5. We use our van to transport children to and from Discovery, Oscar Howe, St. Michael's and the Christian Center. The after school activities include outdoor play, crafts, homework, free play and circle time. The activities are based on Biblical themes, stories and values.

At Good News Children's Center we are committed to quality staff. Our teachers are required to have experience working with children and/or education in a child oriented field as well as a love for children. As a Christian center, it is also important that our teachers have a growing relationship with Christ.
